Abstract

Studies of assembly and secretion of gel-forming mucins are complex. The pulse-chase methods for mucins described here include metabolic radiolabeling and labeling in animals with azido-GalNAc. The labeled mucins are analyzed by composite agarose-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and autoradiography or by mucus-preserving tissue fixation and Click-iT® chemistry. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
