Abstract

Preliminary studies show that most non-governmental organizations in Brazil face management problems and financial difficulties due to the lack of training of their organizers. In view of the relevant work provided by these organizations to society, this gap can be filled by institutions that are able to develop management skills. This study describes a way for business schools to provide training for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) managers, in order to avoid the discontinuity of their work, improve their strategic performance and economic management skills. It presents the case of the Higher Institute of Administration and Economics (ISAE) that for 15 years has mobilized over 150 volunteers and provided training programs for more than 80 Brazilian NGOs from different areas, such as social assistance and education. The research was based on data from the Program's annual reports to show the gradual evolution in the number of volunteers and NGOs participants. The dissemination of this project aims to encourage educational institutions and business schools to connect managers from large companies with non-governmental organizations, contributing directly and indirectly with society.
