Abstract

The notion of a triangle to describe the structure of cooperation between France, Germany, and Poland has never been adequate. It implies, at least theoretically, the equal importance of the three partners involved and some kind of interdependence; any bilateral action would have an impact on the third member. None of these assumptions hold true for the Weimar Triangle, and yet the concept figures whenever Poland is associated with the Franco-German couple.
