Abstract

The policy, legal and regulatory are one the alignment mechanisms to moderate the tension of the contract theory detected between agent and principal. In this context, it is possible to highlight some public bodies such a the Ministry of Education, the Comptroller General of the Republic, the National Consumer Protection and the Labour Inspectorate. The research explores the perceptions of rectors and members of the top collegiate bodies of Chilean universities, in order to establish whether such actors to the context of public order are or not an efficient control mechanism on the stage of Agency. As discussed, the perception, in rough terms, is negative, warning about inefficiency in public policy in this regard and, in the immediate, care to strengthen internal control systems of corporate governance in the university
