Abstract

The sibling bond is marked by complex feelings, and rarely leaves its protagoniste indifferent. Revolt, jealousy, passion, hatred, nostalgia, complicity, and disappointment punctuate it. We shall try to show how the presence of brothers and sisters affects the psychic development of the child, and describe how rivalries are always present, although minimized by the family, and how sibling relationships evolve into adolescence. The emotions of siblings are amplified, ranging from hatred to passion, and even to incest. Finally, clinicai experience will illustrate some dysfunctional family organizations we encounter in examining the sibling relationship.
