Guided Inquiry Learning Model in Chemistry Education: A Systematic Review

Abstract

The abstractness of chemical concepts can be understood easily through learning chemistry using guided inquiry. This article uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to review eleven articles published from 2018 to 2023. Articles were systematically obtained from the online article databases ERIC, Scopus, and Google Schloar. The purpose of the review is to provide information to teachers and researchers in the field of chemistry education about the definition of guided inquiry models, the effect of guided inquiry models on chemistry learning outcomes, and how to apply guided inquiry models/strategies in chemistry learning. The review results show that the definition of various guided inquiry models involves students into a problem and confronts students with an investigation, and directs students to solve the problem of the problem. The effects of guided inquiry models on chemistry learning outcomes include improving metacognition, concept understanding, critical thinking skills, science process skills, learning outcomes, and creative thinking skills. Various chemistry learning models have also been applied in several learning models or strategies such as Guided Inquiry, Guided Inquiry-Based on Blended Learning, Flipped Classroom Based on Guided Inquiry Learning, Guided Inquiry Model Integrated with STEM, Guided Inquiry and Task Hierarchy Analysis Model in Cooperative Learning StrategyBelajar kimia melalui inkuiri terbimbing memudahkan siswa untuk memahami konsep-konsep yang bersifat abstrak. Artikel ini, yang berfokus pada pengajaran kimia menggunakan berbagai model inkuiri terbimbing, mengulas sebelas publikasi yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2018 dan 2023 dengan menggunakan metode Tinjauan Literatur Sistematis (Systematic Literature Review/SLR). ERIC, Scopus, dan Google Scholar adalah tiga basis data artikel online tempat artikel-artikel tersebut diambil secara sistematis. Para guru dan peneliti yang bekerja di bidang pendidikan kimia akan menemukan informasi dalam tinjauan ini berguna untuk memahami apa itu model inkuiri terbimbing, bagaimana model ini mempengaruhi hasil pembelajaran kimia, dan bagaimana menggunakannya untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang kimia. Temuan dalam tinjauan ini menunjukkan bagaimana pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing yang berbeda melibatkan siswa dalam suatu masalah, menyajikan penyelidikan, dan memberi mereka petunjuk tentang cara mengatasi masalah tersebut. Meningkatkan metakognisi, pemahaman konsep, kemampuan berpikir kritis, keterampilan proses sains, hasil belajar, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan menurunkan miskonsepsi adalah beberapa cara model inkuiri terbimbing berdampak pada hasil belajar kimia. Berbagai model pembelajaran kimia juga telah diterapkan dalam beberapa model atau strategi pembelajaran seperti Guided Inquiry, Guided Inquiry Berbasis Blended Learning, Flipped Classroom Berbasis Pembelajaran Guided Inquiry, Model Guided Inquiry Terintegrasi dengan STEM, Guided Inquiry dan Model Task Hierarchy Analysis dalam Strategi Pembelajaran Kooperatif.
