Abstract

In his landmark treatise ``L'Origine des Plantes Cultivées'', de CANDOLLE (1882) suggested that botanical, archaeological, historical, and linguistic data can provide evidence on the area of domestication of crop plants. These types of data are still considered at the present time by crop evolutionists (e.g., PICKERSGILL, 1977).
