This chapter focuses on the link between positioning theory and applied linguistics research. The chapter explains how various social and poststructural concepts in applied linguistics scholarship can be better examined and understood in light of positioning theory. More specifically, the chapter provides guidelines for investigating speaker rights, learning opportunities, identities, language socialization, and culture and moral values in bilingual and multilingual contexts, using positioning theory as a theoretical framework or analytic approach.
