Abstract

This chapter, similarly as the previous one, is divided into two sections corresponding approximately to low- and high-density regions. In Sect. 2.1 we consider density (virial) expansion of pure hard-spheres and hard disks; hardsphere mixtures are postponed to Chap. 5. In Sect. 2.2 we concentrate on computer simulation and mixed methods of determining the chemical potentials of dense hard-sphere fluids, nonspherical hard-body fluids, and their mixtures. Equations of state are described in detail in Chap. 3. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2008.
