Abstract

After reading this chapter, student should be able to: • Develop and test a hypothesis using a prescribed procedure • Know the difference between a Type I and Type II error • Recognize when univariate statistical test is appropriate • Recognize when bivariate statistical test is appropriate • Calculate the appropriate hypothesis test statistics for univariate analysis and make the appropriate decision • Calculate the appropriate hypothesis test statistics for bivariate analysis and make the appropriate decision • Understand the concept of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and interpret its outputs • Identify the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables of interest using correlation analysis
