Early complications of the Kock pouch construction include suture line leakage, bleeding from suture lines, nipple valve necrosis, slippage, and prolapse, stenosis and difficulty with intubation and the general complications of any major intra-abdominal surgery including adhesional obstruction. Complications requiring operative intervention arise in 15–25%.
