Abstract

The recent rapid development of ICP spectrometry has led to a considerable number of papers on the subject, often containing discrepancies and contradictions. Here, in a definitive book, the authors provide not only general background information on the method, but also details of its analytical characteristics and instrumentation. The use of the ICP in the Earth Sciences is given particular attention with descriptions of silicate rock analysis, multielement applications in applied geochemistry, water analysis, and discrete sample injection methods for solid samples. Useful comparisons are made with other analytical methods such as AAS and XRF.-R.A.H.
