Abstract

Presents results of numerical calculations of the removal of graphite (model medium for black encrustation) from aluminum (model medium for artwork substrate) using the laser ablation method. Theoretical comparison is presented of the cleaning rate of graphite as a solid encrustation, as well as of porous graphite filled with air or water, using pulsed laser radiation. Moreover, results are shown of numerical modeling of the pressure pulse generated by a laser pulse in graphite filled with water.
