Separating the helix from the antihelix: A new concept in prominent ear correction

Abstract

Surgery to correct protruding ears began in 1845, and to date hundreds of techniques and ideas have been published. Each one has qualities and faults that sometimes do not allow a perfect or excellent result. The author has developed a technique that uses the qualities and eliminates the defects of the modified Mustardé and Converse techniques. The techniques entirely eliminates the need to weaken the cartilage in the various ways already described, recently including the laser. The incision position is exactly where it should be.
