Abstract

Looks at what is required to create a learning society, drawing on the 2003 "OCLC environmental scan: pattern recognition to highlight the disappearance in the learning of young people of boundaries between work, play and study" and the consequent requirement for seamless library services. Comments on the need to extend the concept of seamlessness beyond the library so that free choice learning can involve partnerships with museums archives and public broadcasting.
