Abstract

Amorphous materials exhibit a variety of unusual low temperature properties. They are caused by low-energy excitations whose physical nature isstill not fully understood. In this review, mainly measurements ofthe acoustic and dielectric properties of glasses are discussed, since these experiments have turned out to be very useful in investigatingthe origin of these anomalies.
