Abstract

Patients with glomerulonephritis secondary to hepatitis C and hepatitis B infections may have dermatologic findings that are associated with the primary infections. With its focus specifically on hepatitis-related cutaneous findings, this chapter provides an overview of those conditions such as polyarteritis nodosa, mixed cryoglobulinemia syndrome, porphyria cutanea tarda, and necrolytic acral erythema, among others. Also included in this chapter are the cutaneous adverse effects associated with commonly implemented antiviral therapies such as interferon and ribavirin and the most recently approved protease inhibitors, telaprevir and boceprevir. Clinical descriptions and images of each of these conditions as well as diagnostic and treatment guidelines are organized into an easily accessible reference for all health care providers who manage and follow these patients on a regular basis.
