Abstract

The lipid extract of Sinularia sp. of soft coral, collected off the coast of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, afforded a new sterol 5, together with three known compounds 2, 3 and 4, and the aglycone (1) of 2. The structure of 5 was derived by comparison of the 1H- and 13C-NMR data with those of 2 and 4 having the same C,D- and A,B-ring substituents, respectively. © 1992, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
