Abstract

Based on Shannon information and random field theories, a low bound estimation is developed in this paper for the transmitting bit rate in image compression coding. Taking the correlation coefficients between the adjacent pixels as parameters, a relation between the signal-to-noise ratio and the estimated low bound of image transmitting bit rate is obtained. As examples, several experiment results are utilized to verify the rationality of the presented results by applying some conventional compression coding methods to two standard pictures.
