Abstract

This article analyses the social logic behind the consolidation of the cause of women's political representation in the concerns of governmental bodies responsible for defending the interests of women from their creation in 1974 to the reform in 2007, which strengthened the degree of constraint in enforcing the «equal representation» law of 6 June 2000. It shows that the close interconnection between institutions and activists working for women's rights is at the centre of this evolution.
