Abstract

Control of networked systems has received significant attention in recent years, and is an inherently multidisciplinary area at the intersection of control theory and network science. In this chapter, background on graph theory and recent developments in networked control is presented. Graph-theoretic concepts include algebraic properties of graphs and spectral graph theory. Control strategies for consensus of first- and second-order integrators over fixed and switching networks, distributed estimation, and opinion dynamics of social networks are presented. The impact of input nodes on the network dynamics is introduced and analyzed.
