Abstract

In VMI mode, logistics outsourcing to third-party logistics, although vendors can solve logistics capabilities and information issues such as lack of capacity, but also increases the complexity of the operation of the VMI. VMI-based third party logistics operation mode (i.e. VMI & TPL mode), the supply chain information flow and logistics bound to change. For example VMI mode transport, distribution and inventory management changes; information sources, information transmission and information sharing changes. Therefore, for the introduction of third-party logistics VMI works, how to effectively integrate information flow and logistics, third party logistics and VMI achieve the organic integration has become necessary to solve the problem. This article from the system's perspective on VMI & TPL mode information flow and logistics integration have deeply study and to achieve the desired goals. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.
