This paper explores the role of audio as a means to access ebooks while the user is at the locations that are referred to in the books. The books are sourced from a digital library and can either be accompanied by pre-recorded audio or synthesized using text-to-speech. The paper discusses the implications of audio access for ebook with particular reference to HCI challenges. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
