Aging and Technological Advances: Introduction

Abstract

The Symposium on Aging and Technological Advances, sponsored by the NATO Special Programme Panel on Human Factors, was convened at the Ethel Percy Andrus Gerontology Center at the University of Southern California in August of 1983. Over 100 participants from 15 countries (both NATO and non-NATO countries) and from a number of scientific disciplines participated in the five-day symposium. The chapters and brief research reports included in this volume were selected from the presentations at the meeting; many were revised following the exchange that took place during the sessions. The diversity of opinion of the authors was one of the most interesting aspects of the symposium and it is reflected in the papers in this volume.
