Cyclical vomiting syndrome (CVS) is a form of recurrent self-limiting episodes of intractable nausea and vomiting, not caused by any identifiable organic disease. Though described more than a hundred years ago, the pathogenesis, effective therapy and diagnostic criteria are still not defined. The current theory that CVS is a migraine variant is based on the clinical features shared by the two conditions. Successful management of patients with CVS remains a great challenge to paediatricians.
