Abstract

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) utilizing the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machine is a common surgery for patients who have myocardium at risk. An important anesthetic goal during this procedure is to manage oxygen supply and demand of the myocardium. Understanding the surgical steps, the intensity of surgical stimulation and the goals of hemodynamic management will help develop a successful anesthetic plan for management of this surgery.
