Abstract

A new genus (Xeroniscus) and three new species of terrestrial Isopoda (X. nogalensis and X. penicilliger from northern Somalia, and X. angusticauda from the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen) are described. Three species previously ascribed to Periscyphis are transferred to Xeroniscus (X. brevicaudatus from southern Somalia, X. erythraeus from Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, and X. bicoloratus from the Yemen Arab Republic). The position of the new genus in the family Eubelidae is discussed. © 1990 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
