DATA MINING – APLICAÇÃO EM UMA BASE DE DADOS REAL COM DADOS DE USUÁRIOS DOS FARÓIS DO SABER

Abstract

This paper presents the results of the experimentation with Apriori, a data mining software, in an attempt to demonstrate its effective use as a decision support tool. The data that was analyzed was related to a survey that was carried out with users of Internet access facilities freely provided by the local government to the citizens of Curitiba, in the so called "Faróis do Saber". Some interesting patterns were detected, such as the relationship of the users' age, income and schooling with the reasons for which they use the Internet.
