Abstract

The Purari deltaic system is one of the major components of a much larger Gulf of Papua depocentre which encompasses the sinks for sediments derived from the Fly, Turama, Kikori, Purari Rivers as well as several smaller rivers. The Purari-Kikori deltaic complex exhibits many of the environmental and morphological characteristics of the Ganges-Brahmaputra and Irrawaddy deltas.-from Authors
