This calls for robustness in technologies and systems, for the information systems department the goal is to develop information systems that run smoothly and without unexpected interruptions. Standards and standards compliance is the key to developing robust infrastructures. In addition, systems that are built on standards are compatible to existing and future technologies. They are also needed to make information system flexible, and allow changes to be made rapidly and cost-effectively.
