Abstract

Web services can be composed together in order to carry out complex transactions or workflows. During the execution of the composite service, if one component service fails, a mechanism is needed to ensure that the failed service can be quickly and efficiently replaced. In this paper, based on the proposed dependent quality model extended QoS model (EX_QoS), we present an ap-proach for finding replacement composite service in order to make the composite service can automatically switch to the new replacement composite services. Compared with works have been done, this paper emphasizes on find-ing the replacement composite service with global optimization in decentralized service composition and through making the backing up process begin at the failure happening time and before the service invoking time, the approach can make the replacement composite service more available and can minimize the interrupting time caused by the backing up process. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
