Any talk on the future of material handling will always include the effect of global computer networks on logistics, manufacturing and distribution, as the Information Superhighway will affect almost every industry in the coming years. The prospect of large-scale customization at the personalized level will require modifications to techniques such as the Use Point Manager and existing packaging lines and the expansion of the Dynamic Finite Scheduling engine. In spite of these prospects, however, traditional channels of distribution will remain busy.
