Abstract

Nanophthalmos is characterized by axial hyperopia with proportional anterior and posterior segment shortening. This disorder leads to an increased risk for chronic angle closure glaucoma and acute angle closure glaucoma. Complications at the time of cataract and glaucoma surgery are common. Identification of the nanophthalmic eye and pre-operative planning and intraoperative management techniques can minimize vision loss and mediate successful surgery in these challenging cases.
