Abstract

Virtual Environments (VEs) offer a significant contribution to concurrent engineering tasks. At present there are few VEs available that differ in cooperation features and individual requirements. In this paper we analyze the added value and problematic aspects for several approaches like table top systems, large projection systems, collaborative augmented reality and distributed virtual environments. The conducted study is helping the user to choose the appropriate VE according to the engineering task and individual requirements. © Springer-Verlag London 2013.
