In the medical domain the market pressure and increased software content of products form the driving force for the introduction of product line architectures. This paper describes a new product line architecture that is based upon a generic platform that only can be varied through well-defined interfaces. It explains the rationale behind this approach and elaborates on the experiences so far. The paper gives a short overview of the architecturla requirements for the product line and the methodology followed . The focus is on the actual platform architecture and its technical implementation
