Abstract

There are innumerable “Patagonian” images circulating today through the networks. What does this excess of information seek? The current image of the Reserve of Life related to the territory of Patagonia-Aysén is the result of coupling and capture of flows of thinking configurations. The tourist and conservationist discourse is represented through the word-image articulation, which projects and consolidates a territory considered as one of the last natural refuges in the face of planetary collapse, as it would possess a unique, virgin, sublime, delicious, pristine, unexplored nature, among other metaphorisations or codifications of the landscape that refer to the Edenic idea. Thus, the images produced on social networks will establish the desire to love the green, seek it, and need it, and the social machinery will be articulated so that the social flow will stop at that vision. They install “ways of seeing” that become, in a certain way, dictatorial, indisputable, universal. We think that social networks are key agencies that allow and collaborate in establishing the spectacle of the network-image that represents the territory of Patagonia-Aysén.
