Abstract
This paper presents a new method for raw material classification based on rough set theory. The classification method is used within the distribution network of a supply chain management system. An expert system is developed based a set of decision rules. The purpose of the expert system is to configure the distribution policies in order to reduce the transportation and storage costs as well as downtime risks. © 2014 Springer International Publishing.
