Abstract

Jacques Ellul (French: [ɛlyl]; January 6, 1912 – May 19, 1994) was a French philosopher, law professor, sociologist, lay theologian, and Christian anarchist. He wrote several books about the technological society, propaganda, and the interaction between Christianity and politics, including Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes. He authored 58 books and more than a thousand articles over his lifetime in all, the dominant theme of which has been the threat to human freedom and Christian faith created by modern technology.
