Abstract

This study consists of an investigation into psychic transmission in three generations of women in a single family - grandmother, mother and daughter, the last diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. The family case study approach was used as a methodological strategy, and the psychic transmission theory for analyzing data. Difficulties and suffering resulting from psychic contents transmitted through intergenerational relationships without being worked through brought about partial and conflictive relationships, veiled by family secrets and the impoverishment of subjectivity.
