Abstract

Pustular diseases are an etiologically heterogeneous group. Based on their distribution, they are divided into localized and generalized pustulosis. A distinction is also made between forms that occur predominantly in childhood or adulthood. Pustules are not necessarily the expression of an infection with bacteria, fungi, or viruses. The majority of pustular skin diseases are not primarily infectious. Sterile pustules as primary skin lesions can be observed in numerous, more or less independent dermatoses.
