Abstract

Six types of active compounds, which contracted the isolated rat uterus and guinea pig ileum, and were hypotensive, were found in the venom of the Japanese wasp (P. r. iwatai). Three major compounds were purified by chromatography and isolated in pure form. They were serotonin, Thr6-bradykinin and Ala-Arg-(Thr6-bradykinin); the amounts of these substances per wasp were approximately 1.2 mu g, 0.7 mu g, and 0.13 mu g, respectively. Author
