Abstract

The Malone Antegrade Continence Enema (MACE or ACE) procedure is not common, but the general surgeon may come across a patient with such a surgical history as these appendicostomies frequently require surgical revision. The current chapter focuses less on the creation of a MACE than on issues that may arise from it. Indications, pitfalls and danger points, preoperative preparation, and postoperative care and complications are discussed. Detailed operative strategy and technique are included.
