Abstract

The level of voluntary information for commercial banks (CBs) is important for users. There are a number of factors that affect to the level of voluntary information, in which corporate governance (CG) is great interest. In order to assess the impact of CG on the level of voluntary information of 30 Vietnamese CBs in the period of 2012–2016, the authors used quantitative method with panel data (OLS). The research results shown that there were two factors including the board size and the proportion of foreign shares that affected the same direction to level of voluntary information. So that, the authors suggested policies such as managers of CBs increase the number of board members, as well as considered to increase foreign ownership (within the limits set by the State Bank of Vietnam) to contribute the transparent information of Vietnamese stock exchange.
