The mechanisms and kinetics of emulsion polymerization reactions have been presented in earlier papers. Although some uncertainties remain, especially for complex commercial recipes, significant progress has been made in our understanding of the physical and chemical phenomena involved in these reactions. This expanded knowledge base has proven to be useful for the design of latex products and manufacturing processes.
