Abstract

Mechatronics is closely correlated with both mechanical and information engineering. Information technology, particularly software, has been developed to give flexibility to machines. Consequently machines will generally increase in flexibility by the introduction of mechatronics. 'Mechanical' is no longer an adjective for inflexibility. Modern machines aim to escape from being 'mechanical', though it seems paradoxical.
