Plant growth and productivity are affected by environmental stresses, including drought, high salinity, and high and low temperature. Plants percept the stress signals and response to adapt these stresses. Plant abiotic stress responses are regulated by the integration of various environmental and endogenous signals including plant hormones. Plant adaptation to abiotic stresses is controlled by molecular cascades, in which expression of many genes are modulated, and also involved in the cross-talk pathway with other signaling mechanism. In this chapter, we show an overview of the current knowledge on plant molecular responses and adaptation to abiotic stresses. © 2012 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
