Abstract

Several diagnostic methods are necessary in the examination of patients in whom Hirschsprung's disease (HD) is suspected. These are clinical examination, contrast enema, anorectal manometry and rectal biopsy. It has been shown that rectal suction biopsies (RSB) have the highest sensitivity (93%) and specificity (100%) rates in diagnosing HD. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
