Abstract

2 to 3 %mil intrasite, inter tree variability in d13C ; larger differences in variability(of what??) between sites than among pinus species -> suggests genetic component in d13C variations ; in a site individual trees tend to keep their d13C levels over 70 to 80% of the time nd over most of the remaining 20 to 30% anly change a single position in the relative order -> overall trends are shown in each tree at one site even with different absolute values due to microenvironmental factors ; no correlation of d13C to individual tree ring width ; no change trend of intrasite variability (of what??) with time (tree age); changes may be due to changes in microenvironments
