Abstract

Perovskite-based on lanthanum manganate material has attracted much attention in a few years recently because it can produce a change in properties based on substitute composition. This study successfully synthesized perovskite based on lanthanum manganate La0.7Ba0.3Mn1-xNixO3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) using sol-gel method. Samples were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) whose raw data was subsequently analyzed using the Rietveld refinement method on GSAS-EXPGUI software. For x = 0 - 0.2 single-phase of rhombohedral crystal structure with space group R-3c was formed. But, for x = 0.3, multi-phases were formed with one of them was BaMnO3 with rhombohedral crystal structure and space group R-3m. The characterization using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) showed decrease of the magnetic properties in base material along with the increasing of x composition indicated by the lowering slopes of corresponding hysteresis curves and the decreasing value of magnetization along with its susceptibility.
