Abstract

The field of soft tissue augmentation has seen many advances through the recent year. There have been a boom of newer fillers that have the properties of being long lasting as well as more naturally appearing when injected. Hyaluronic acid has become the golden standard, even though other fillers such as calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-l-lactic acid and polycaprolactone have commanded their own market. Fat is still considered to be common practice. especially amongst plastic surgeons, though its use has waned with dermatologists.
